About Laura Mitchell
Certified Nutrition Coach & Health Content Researcher

I've always been fascinated by the gap between what the nutrition science actually says and what most health content communicates to everyday people. Too much of it is either dumbed down to the point of being useless, or buried in academic language that makes it inaccessible to anyone without a research background. NutriPowerAdvisor exists to close that gap.
I'm a certified nutrition coach with training through the Precision Nutrition Institute, and I've spent the better part of a decade working at the intersection of fitness, metabolic health, and evidence-based supplementation. My background is practical as much as it is academic — I've worked with clients ranging from recreational gym-goers to competitive athletes, which means I understand both what the studies say and how nutrition decisions play out in the real world.
What I Actually Do Here
The calculators on this site are built from validated formulas used by sports dietitians and exercise scientists — not marketing approximations. When I review a supplement, I read the primary research on each ingredient, check whether the dosages in the product match what the studies actually used, and I call out the gaps honestly.
A 3.5/5 review from me means more than a suspiciously perfect 5/5 from a site that has never criticized a product in its existence.
I'm also deeply skeptical of proprietary blends, unverifiable statistics in marketing copy, and the kind of breathless health claims that give the supplement industry its well-earned reputation for overpromising.
My Approach to Supplement Reviews
Every supplement review on this site follows the same framework:
- Ingredient audit — I cross-reference each ingredient against published peer-reviewed research, not manufacturer claims
- Dosage verification — I check whether the amount in the product matches the doses actually used in clinical studies
- Marketing vs. evidence — I separate what the science supports from what the label implies
- Honest limitations — If I haven't personally used a product, I say so; my reviews are research-based, not fabricated personal testimonials
- Balanced verdict — Products get credited for what works and criticized for what doesn't
My Approach to Calculators
The tools on NutriPowerAdvisor use validated equations drawn from peer-reviewed sports science and nutrition research — the same formulas that registered dietitians and certified strength coaches use in clinical and coaching practice. Where multiple validated methods exist (for example, different TDEE estimation equations), I explain the differences and why one may be more appropriate for your situation than another.
No calculator is a substitute for individualized professional guidance. My goal is to give you a starting point grounded in real science, not a black box that spits out numbers without context.

A Note on Editorial Independence
NutriPowerAdvisor publishes affiliate links, which means I may earn a commission if you purchase a product through a link on this site — at no extra cost to you. This does not influence my ratings or conclusions. Products receive the same scrutiny regardless of whether they have an affiliate program. The honest ratings, the criticism of proprietary blends, and the "who should skip this" sections exist precisely because I think long-term reader trust is worth more than a short-term conversion.
If a product is not worth buying, I will tell you that.
